Welcome to the first edition of ICEFAT News for 2008. This edition
is “LOOKING LARGE” at the logistics behind moving big
scale objects. I hope you find these articles interesting &
helpful when considering how best to tackle situations on a grander
scale.
Speaking of “LARGE” I am delighted to report a few
BIG, ICEFAT size changes.
First let me report that our Webmaster and ListServe manager,
Andi Alameda, has made a successful transition to a more versatile
and user-friendly mail distribution service for delivery of ICEFAT
News. As with most technological changes, it was not without
a couple of bumps along the way (and our apologies if you were affected)
however “all in all” the transition went very smoothly.
If you have not received the newsletter from ICEFAT directly and
would like to subscribe, please visit our website www.icefat.org
then just click on the subscribe link on the left hand side of the
page.
The second piece of BIG news is that the editor of ICEFAT News,
Kim Powell, is making the move across the pond, from Australia to
San Francisco. The relationships Kim has built with ICEFAT members,
combined with her dedication over the years to the success of ICEFAT
in supporting & promoting the organization has been HUGE. The
Steering Committee of ICEFAT could not comprehend what it would
be like without Kim’s contributions. I am very pleased to
announce that Kim has agreed to continue to work with ICEFAT as
the Managing Editor of ICEFAT News.
I know many of the stories we tell in ICEFAT News & some of
the subjects covered are submitted by you, the readership. I would
encourage you to continue to submit your ideas, questions &
comments to Kim at editor@icefat.org.
I would invite you all to join ICEFAT in the Mile High city of
Denver Colorado, where we will again be representing our members
at the 2008 MuseumExpo held during the American Association of Museums
annual conference.
I hope you will drop by to say “Hi”, either at our
booth in the Exhibit Hall or at the International Registrar’s
Reception which we are once again hosting on behalf of RC-AAM, &
reconnect with our organization & many of it’s member
from around the world.
As the world’s population gets larger, our world gets smaller
& our reach gets closer. ICEFAT members know this well and they
extend their THANKS to colleagues and clients around the globe working
together with the spirit of collaboration & cooperation.
