Freight is typically the last priority
of the airlines. Passengers, bags, mail and then freight. If the
passenger and bag load go up then there is a chance that freight
will have to be bumped because there is less space available for
freight.
Freight can also be bumped because of weather and / or fuel load.
If the airline determines that the plane has to weigh less in order
to properly take-off then they will take freight off of the plane.
Perishables and / or live animals. Either of these types of freight
will take priority over artwork. Typically your agent will check
with the airline before your freight is booked to avoid flights
where there might be perishables or animals.
Incorrect information. If your crates are larger or heavier than
anticipated and you do not inform your agent prior to the delivery
of the freight to the airline then the airline can bump your freight.
